Speaking at a meeting of NAM labor ministers on Wednesday in Geneva, Ali Rabiei said NAM countries can play an effective role in promoting equality and decreasing injustice in the world.
Deeming extremism and violence the greatest issues that can further aggravate the state of unemployment and poverty in the world, the Iranian official added NAM should be the harbinger of justice and equal opportunities in the global fight against poverty and imposed inequality.
He further maintained that any hindrance to technology advancement in developing countries and imposing sanctions against them will ruin any prospect for labor development in those countries.
He also noted that the interference of developed countries in other countries’ affairs has resulted in more unemployment.
South–South Cooperation is a term used to describe the exchange of resources, technology, and knowledge between developing countries, also known as countries of the global South.
Rabiee departed for Geneva on Monday to take part in the 104th meeting of the International Labor Conference (ILC).
Rabiee who chaired the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) countries in the conference, is set to hold meetings with his foreign counterparts during the visit to Geneva.
The 104th session of the International Labor Conference began on June 1 and will run through June 13.
The International Labor Conference is the highest decision making body at the International Labor Organization (ILO), bringing together delegations from the Organization’s 185 member States.
